Nnenna Chinyere Freelon is a jazz singer, composer, producer, arranger and a six time Grammy Awards nominee. She has toured and worked alongside leading artists such as Ray Charles, Ellis Marsalis, Al Jarreau, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Dianne Reeves, Diana Krall, Ramsey Lewis, George Benson, Clark Terry, Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard to name a few.
Nnenna is also the national spokesperson of the National Association of Partners in Education, an organization that represents more than 400,000 school/community partnership programs across the United States.
Nnenna Freelon has been awarded the Eubie Blake Award from the Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute, and the Billie Holiday Award from the Academie du Jazz. She performed at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards telecast in Los Angeles.
Nnenna is married to architect Philip G. Freelon, a native of Philadelphia. She has three children.
Nnenna Freelon is, simply, one of the greatest jazz vocalists of our time. Her latest album is titled “Better than Anything”.
