Michael Obiora is best known for his role as the gay receptionist ‘Ben Trueman’ in the BBC hit series, Hotel Babylon. Micheal was born in West London in 1986. At the age of 10 he landed a part in another school drama hit program, Grange Hill. In the series he played ‘Max Abassi’ for five years.
As a teenager he also appeared in such programmes as ‘Doctors’, ‘The Bill’ and ‘Bombshell’. He also played ‘Perry Green’ in Holby City and ‘Jack’ in My Family.
Michael remembers going to Nigeria and jumping at the chance to perform on stage. “Afterwards, the villagers pressed money upon my skin, which stuck to me, and my mum immediately sent me to drama school when I got back to the UK."
In 2007 he played ‘DI Billy Shipton’ in Doctor Who. He has played leading roles in the plays ‘Fallout’ at the Royal Court Theatre and ‘Badnuff’ at The Soho Theatre.
